A heart in a stone.
Walking along a mountain path with my wife, at some point she called me and showed me, in the ground made of stones, the shape of a heart.
I, who deep down am a big romantic and get moved by everything, began to reflect on this statement: look, a heart in a stone.
How is it possible for there to be a heart in a stone?
The reality is that we all have a heart; everything around us has a beating heart. Every form of life, everything that is born and dies, everything that has a reproductive cycle has a heart.
You'll tell me a stone doesn't have a heart. OK, that's true, but if we compare a cold being without morals to someone without a heart, I say they still have a heart.
This means that each of us can feel touched by the difficulties of our life or by the choices we've made, but everything can change.
Who do you see in the mirror in the morning as soon as you get out of bed?
I get it, you don't look at yourself, but others see your face, and probably, just as you don't want to see it reflected in that mirror, you wouldn't want anyone to look at your face either, no one to dare look at you.
What you really want is the opposite. You'd like not to be looked at for what you are, but for there to be understanding for what has happened in your life.
There's no need to stay alone.
Being alone is that part of our life where we don't want to face what happens.
From the relationships born with the people we meet in life, or already know, we should open ourselves up and free ourselves from guilt. We are all guilty of something.
Deep down even this isn't quite right. The biggest difficulty is precisely showing the wound or wounds we have, instead of thinking we'll be judged for the way we hide it, or for not showing them at all and looking gloomy.
Free your gaze from that wound.
It's time to uncover that face, to show that wound, which is not the only one in your life, just as it isn't in so many others' lives.
People live in their wounds, and it isn't your exclusive. The sooner you free your constant gaze from that wound, the sooner everything will go back to normal.
You can't free yourself from the wound, but showing it will help you show that that very mark brought a truly effective change into your life, even if you don't believe it.
Look at yourself in the mirror.
One thing is real: God doesn't want you bound to lifeless statues, but is pleased when your gaze is mainly on Him, and in reality, on your face, right there reflected in the mirror.
For the record, God created you in His image and likeness. This means that if you want to see Him, you just need to look at yourself in the mirror and contemplate what He is, what He gave you to be, and even if you think you're ugly, He created an inimitable, beautiful work. Only you have transformed everything you see and don't like, that is, what is reflected. All this only because you wanted to change it. You don't need magic formulas, to stay in the dark, to have nothing more to do with life because of Your judgement and then other people's; you only need to put that image back in order. All that's left is to let go of your thoughts about that image you don't like and turn your gaze to the heart you see in that misshapen stone.
That face of yours was given to you for a magnificent work, and right now you are discovering it, because this is the hour when you abandon the lie that is devastating you and finally begin to live eternity.
Laugh and start again, bind yourself once more to the ONE who created you to be something good: your heart still beats for this life.
And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory as in a mirror, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
