Detox from addiction

Detox and addiction immediately bring a drug addict to mind. The difference between the two terms is, however, simply being subordinate to something, to a bond.

Caught in a vice we become addicted, just as our choices bind us in ties that leave us no way out.

Getting out of anything seems simple, but it all becomes a bit like smoking the last cigarette before quitting. In reality it's just one more excuse to start again tomorrow. Many cigarette addicts say it's the only vice that affects them.

What's wrong with that, and what's wrong with this other thing, and so we stay addicted without ever shaking anything off; in fact we add other things, because we're always dissatisfied.

Couples too fall ill with dissatisfaction, friendships too fall ill with dissatisfaction, and so all of us fall ill with dissatisfaction about something.

I don't want to drag it out, but the concept is simple. If you want to get out of an addiction, you have to recognise it and detox, or at least create a healthy dependency for yourself. Yes, you can be dependent on healthy things, but people don't want them, don't look for them, in fact they push them away or describe them in a completely different way so as not to recognise them.

Jesus is a healthy dependency, but if you mention Him to some people, they see a religion in it and a dependency on a group that only wants to shut you in or force you into something. Sometimes I put my head in my hands because I can't understand how those "dependent" on God have managed to scare even drug addicts. Addicts sometimes prefer to go back to drugs rather than recognise the love of Christ (thank goodness this example doesn't hold for most addicts).

How many times have you met someone and said: you know, I thought you'd be less likeable? Well! The same happened to me when I got to know Christ. OK, OK, I know I'm coming back to the topic that grates on your ears, but what I mean isn't a knowledge of habits, sandals and holiness, but a personal knowledge.

As I said, discovering someone personally to realise who they really are.

I did it willingly, I did it to understand, I did it because I didn't know, I did it because I wanted to challenge myself. It went how it went, but He gave me loads of answers, or rather questions to answer. Yes, because He answers with questions. That's how He is, He's special in this too.

It's written in the book of an old wise man (it sounds better put that way):

"Enter through the narrow gate! For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
Matthew 7:13-14

This wise man, inspired, because it wasn't his own idea, said something absolutely right: going through a little door is difficult, you even need a different movement to get through it, but above all you need to be interested in finding it, or be among the few who find it. After all, we know this little door is looked for in times of withdrawal, when death approaches, in difficulty.

Many have tied their lives so tightly to the things they now do routinely every day that if you offer them the little door they answer: I have a beautiful door, so wide that I'm not interested in this tiny little door.

Obviously it's irony mixed with truth, but if I told you about real discounts in a designer shop you'd run there straight away. On the other hand, nobody would accept a cure before death, especially if they don't know they're ill. Today nobody takes medicine without being ill. Today nobody knows they're ill with something, because by now everything is everyday life.

Can you recognise whether you have an addiction?

I don't know, let's see if I can help you; something comes to mind to help you recognise an addiction, male or female, or of both sexes.

Man: every time a woman walks by, are you interested in looking at her backside? If a woman has a low neckline, do you take her measurements with your eyes? If your friend has a pretty wife, do you act cool to attract attention? Are you attracted by bargains? Do expensive cars intrigue you? Are you a fan of buying and selling stylish cars? Do you like being fashionable on the cheap? Do you like dressing well because you have no other interests? Do you like travelling rather than dressing well? Do you prefer having comfortable cars rather than clothes or travel? Do you like having all the comforts of your mega villa rather than following car trends, travel or clothes? Or do you simply like eating at a different restaurant every Sunday because gourmet food is your pleasure in life?

Woman: shall we talk about the endless things a woman is interested in, or shall I just put a full stop? If for a man I touched the sore points of sex, cars, clothes, travel, houses and restaurants, for a woman I should add the non-negligible and toxically recognised details such as shoes, accessories, make-up, outfits, bags, shops, trends, selfies, screenshots, travel, Instagram, TikTok, etc. etc. etc.

How much more dependency do we want?

If we can't understand that we're addicts , we won't accept any cure. Lately they've made us believe that vaccines too are a cure, and they want to make us dependent on them every 4 months, and everyone queues up to be inoculated.

If we can't recognise our daily addictions, can we blame politicians who use their science to make money by killing us?

The cure is simplicity, it's recognising yourself, it's knowing that your body is made to react, to produce on its own what it needs, to heal itself and resist. Medicines aren't our fuel; good food is. Medicine doesn't feed the heart; good food does, and exercise, and so on. Everything man is addicted to doesn't help him in a life with his wife, in raising his children, in choosing a true love nest for the family. Woman, just like man, with all her addictions can only pay attention to everything, which then comes to nothing.

But you don't want to read, you don't want to listen, you don't want to change, you don't want to recognise, you don't even want to come near, you don't want to "eat" any of it, you want nothing at all; but don't complain if the devil uses you and then abandons you to your fate, and above all don't blame God, because He surely sent you someone or a message to cure you during the illness you weren't recognising, or before death, and you REFUSED it.

In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use.
