Does bad luck exist? I laugh!

During this time of renovation work on my home, I've run into several difficulties that led to some jobs being done terribly.

The professional masters

The tradesmen ("masters", the professionals of that specific job), looking at the work of previous tradesmen, kept calling me unlucky.

My reaction was always the same: I laughed.

Consider that whoever was speaking at that moment was yet another tradesman, yet another example of a bad worker, yet another one fixing a problem created by the previous master.

And the professional?

Now I wonder: does the master who doesn't finish his work, leaving it imperfect, still remain worthy of bearing that title? That title of master makes even the teaching he received while learning his trade worthless.

My answer

I'll add: the work of the failed master was the result of wrong teaching.

So is the one who receives the faulty work unlucky?

The work on this Earth

In my case, I believe the work of this Earth stays on this Earth, and it's not up to me to judge a badly done job.

What's left for me is the annoyance of not seeing that work done the right way and the annoyance of having it repaired again. The problem remains with those who cheat, pocketing money they don't deserve and praising the final result.

The true work

On this Earth what matters is not who sows and who waters, but who makes things grow.

If the one making you grow wants to lead you into cheating, you can be sure that your master in life will also be judged.

If instead you recognise that the one making you grow is leading you towards the best, then know that there will also be a reward.

OK, you're thinking it could be simple.

What work are you doing

Now I ask you how you rate your own work. How do you think it's going, what was your teaching like, and how much have you changed to improve?

We're very good at judging other people's work and blaming bad luck, but no one should judge a work on the basis of human error. After all, we say human error precisely because man is already flawed in himself.

How should we change?

We should be aware that our work is in itself a teaching that creates children. Children who learn and who will generate other children.

Where does your work end?

If you looked far ahead into the future, would you see your work end because of your teaching, or continue forever?

The world is going to pieces because we don't change our work, but keep working within that wrong teaching.

Recognise the true work

If we realised that the work is not ours but belongs to the One who makes things grow, then we would see things in a totally different way, and surely our view of the future would stretch out to infinity, and in a positive way.

Break the chain of bad work

The chain is easy to break: you just need to consider yourself the link that wants to stop the wrong trend, moving into the right gear.

After all, things that don't belong to this Earth are judged crazy. That's why when you do something that goes beyond what others do, it's madness; but bind yourself to the right madness, otherwise the work will still have an end.

Inspired by the verses:

I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labour.

Corinthians 3:6-8

Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become "fools" so that you may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness"; and again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile."

Corinthians 3:18-20

We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honoured, we are dishonoured! To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, we are homeless. We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; when we are slandered, we answer kindly. We have become the scum of the earth, the garbage of the world, right up to this moment.

Corinthians 4:10-13

Now you be the judge. Am I unlucky or crazy?

What I have here, on this earth, doesn't belong to me, and what I leave you can only be a good example to imitate. So try doing it yourself.

Happy changing.
