Marriage is a battlefield
Some also say that marriage is when you go to bed with the enemy.
I would like to know who came up with these things.
Today it irritates me to think that someone puts such things into other people's heads, things that then carry on over the years and between couples until they reach marriages. Or rather, until they end marriages.
I don't deny that I was part of this way of thinking, but like all the things I have changed, matured, weighed and learned, I have definitely removed it from my life.
I was part of it, living with the thought of the "enemy" in the house, and in the end that is exactly what it turned out to be. After all, whoever invented this saying was a person marked by their own past, who was able to state this discomfort so firmly as to convince others that what they said was true.
It was true, as it still is, if you still want to believe it!
If we want to believe in someone's failed life and call it down on our own, then finish reading this article to find out what I believe, so you can decide to compare it with your life. At the very least my message wants to lead you to positivity, and I think you can take that as a good thing.
What changed compared with my previous thinking?
I changed my life. The life I had chosen before was a life of disappointment that began with enthusiasm and ended with a stab in the side, one that still hurts like the change of seasons.
Those wounds that remind you of the pain because they refuse to leave you in peace.
Knowing Christ taught me one thing: it taught me to die in the flesh but not in the spirit.
Dying to the things of the flesh is a bit like surrendering to demands, slaps, insults, judgements, requests for money, alterations, manipulations and so on, to make room for forgiveness, knowing that in spirit you are already saved in Christ, and that a Judge, God, who is there to defend you against the attacks that want to defeat you, is also there for all those who have chosen to have nothing to do with us.
What I used to think, I no longer think now. There was simply a different, conscious choice: not to choose an enemy to lie down with, but an ally.
The fact that I chose an ally for my life should not make you think that I chose to get rid of the enemy, so as to convince you to leave your husband or your wife. The person you chose for your life is surely one of the reasons to start fighting your carnal nature and to see things with new eyes. Obviously this renewal must be carried out together, otherwise it naturally cannot work. Allies are allies because they share the same vision of the future.
It is written in the Word of God that if you have someone, you must keep them, because your change can be an example to the one who stubbornly refuses to change; but if you are still choosing, understand properly how to choose.
Getting to the point: if you are single, choose a person who is your ally and who is strength with you, because it is written that your union will make you one thing, ONE. With this in mind, if you are about to choose a life partner, know that unions then become indissoluble. Be aware that you are also taking charge of the other person, to support and be supported. Making a good choice before "having a union (meaning sexual intercourse before actually choosing each other)" allows you not to take on burdens you will not be able to carry, which will probably give you work healing the wounds afterwards. So, starting from a healthy fear in the choice itself, a couple will be more aware of being a couple, and this already knocks down the concept of the enemy and pushes towards a concept of UNion and strength, a bit like two steering wheels joined by the same axle.
If your relationship is already bound by marriage and you are aware that it was formed in a context of fighting and is carrying on in a destructive way, then the solution is this: if your life has changed because you have come to know the Truth and Salvation, that is Jesus, then you also know that your human endurance matches the strength God gives you. If you have not come to know Truth and Salvation, I can only tell you that your physical strength runs out when your endurance does, and you end up speaking evil of (in Italian male-dire, "to curse") family, children, life and existence.
Those who have lived through a war know what it means to carry physical and emotional scars, but those who, by living, have gained experience and hope know the redemption they will have.
Those who think only about living this life think about their own interest. Those who have decided to live this life because they no longer care about its afflictions have already founded their Faith in eternity.
If you want to change, start from the things that make your life stable. Know that it is written that afflictions produce patience, patience produces experience, and experience produces hope. Hope gives you faith, but if you put your faith in statues and gods, it is a faith that leads you to eternal death. Faith in Christ is the assurance of things hoped for, the real proof of things not seen. I believe there is a difference between putting Faith in God or in gods.
A couple is union, not war. A couple is family, not the end of a union. Family is children, not separation and divorce. That is why the family is no longer a strength: it has now become a stretched concept of identity that leaves children lost.
Choose today to break those old concepts of a destroyed couple and family; take hold of the last thread you have left to save everything. You can only do it through a new relationship, a relationship with the only One who can give you love and strength without asking anything in return; in fact, He has already paid for everything. Take this relationship and make it yours, begin your friendship with Christ, who will open the doors of a new life to you. Experience this for your relationship and to win it back. Everything requires personal will and strength to endure, but with Christ, strength and endurance become love, even towards your own "enemy".
Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
John 15:4
If we are joined to Him we will bear our fruit, just as the fruit of our husband or wife joined to God will be His fruit. Together there will be abundance.
