Who you really are
To tell the truth, I don't even know who I am and where I'm going. Until a few years ago and more, I thought a lot about what I was and what I wanted. Today, instead, I know who I have been, where I want to go and how I want to do it.
Conditions and positions mature in your life and, without realising it, you settle into a context that, without you even imagining it, has fossilised you. In practice you're shut inside a standard, convinced you're free.
Does it happen to you too?
If you stop right now and reflect on your day, can you see the standard things you do, or do you think it's just your normal life?
Perhaps you're answering that you have a job and it's normal for there to be a standard. You have children and it's normal for there to be a standard. You can't do anything else, and it's normal that you have to move within this standard.
Everyone establishes their own life the way they have led it.
Because of life's needs I changed city, created something that crumbled in my hands, re-examined my life, started again, changed city again. All this has allowed me not to settle for more than a while in a permanent standard condition. It also happened thanks to my ability to readapt. Even so, I still have my standards.
Have you ever asked yourself questions about where you stand?
If you stopped being who you are, stopped doing what you do, would you still be the same? The same person, the same man, the same husband, the same father, the same traveller, the same example?
I notice it's very hard for some people to climb onto a pedestal and then manage to step down easily, and do you know why? Because they build their life on that pedestal.
A very common mistake I used to make was precisely thinking I knew who I was. Right after that, the mistake I made was believing and knowing what I had learned. What I've understood is that I'm nobody, and what I've learned isn't even my own doing.
You're in the same position as me.
You have a degree, you have titles, you're "an authority", you're a Nobel prize winner... You're in the same position as me. When many people want to explain that life brings everyone to the same level, they bring up Totò's "A livella" (if you don't know it, just search for it on Google or YouTube).
What you are is simply a desired creation, given to you without you being able to choose. If you've become who you are, it's by your choice, but certainly because someone who Loves You made sure you switched on the lamp of your intelligence (intelligence that was also given to you, not chosen).
What you think you know through study, and the consequent, majestic ability to explain it in words, is without a shadow of doubt not your own ability but a gift you're learning to grow.
What we put into what we are and do is simply will. Many often get lost in their standards and start believing they're in a superior position compared with others. And there you are on the pedestal, but you always have only a fragile position, because you're nobody and you think you know.
Our positions in life make us so proud that we think we can command others or have power and authority over them, but sadly, alas for you who are learning it now, it isn't so.
What you can limit yourself to doing in other people's lives is making known what is important. Seeing things simply, understanding that everything wants to be twisted away from simplicity to make you feel a sense of difficulty.
Laws have multiplied, restrictions are many, rules just as many, and even the sexes now have to be defined.
Do you still think you're someone on that pedestal?
Let's put ourselves in the same condition of life, let's leave for a moment the standards we've created and look at things simply.
I learned some time ago that skin colour, life choices, placements, positions of command and so on are things that have nothing to do with truly being present in this life. The moment we realise it, we let go of everything that attracts us or makes us feel good and begin to convince everyone that the only way to be saved from our position is to "end" in the right way.
Here we count the years, but we don't even know the hours of our life, yet one minute can let us live an eternity.
All you need to learn is that outside science (so limited) and religion (so far removed from people's lives) there is only one true treasure you can make yours, and share with those who brush past your life: the Salvation of Believing in a Love that thinks nothing of itself and doesn't show off Knowledge or Wisdom.
And yet He is. "I am" was all He needed to say. This is still true today. He Is.
We manage to put "our own feet in our face" through our attitudes and ways of speaking, and we do the same with Christ. We think we can hold out living like this, but we don't even have the strength to do it. How can we think we can put our feet in the face of the Head, of Christ, on His face, when instead we are under His feet?
Lately I've listened to countless arguments about getting or not getting the vaccine, and many of the vaccinated simply chose to because getting going again was part of their life plan. In the latest statistics, though, there are thousands of vaccinated people who are having side effects from the injection they received, and they also represent the majority of hospital admissions for problems with the Delta variant.
I've learned several things from my experience with God, and one surely leads the way: anything that creates confusion, destroys, steals or divides is certainly not from God. In the Word it is written that every word God the Father has declared has always returned to Him fruitful. You can read countless things that correspond to today's reality and that show God the Father and His beauty. If you look in the mirror you'll see, to begin with, that the first is you.
All the opening text was inspired by a man and his position in life compared with mine. That of a man living in "AUTHORITY" compared with mine, lived within an authority. It's an example of roles that I wanted to make with biblical parallels between church authority and my ordinary work authority. Both of us talking about Christ among people through work "roles". The first regarded as "above" people and the second "among" people. The first superior, the second among them, if not despised and not even considered. The first exalted even more for its position, the second considered to have no title at all. So I ask myself: who has the title to speak of Christ and change lives, even at a dinner among friends? A Priest? A Pastor? Or a man? Who is a man of God? One titled by men or by God? When a man is of God, you don't need to look at his badge; you recognise him from afar, and he certainly doesn't wear a robe to be recognised, but simplicity.
I firmly believe in these "verses", with their biblical references, which I wrote down after talking with a man and his "hearsay" during a friendly dinner. I also believe nobody wants to hear sermons anymore unless they choose to go into a church; nobody wants to sing to God except in a church. Even God has been confined within four walls, and only there can He be found and praised. It's not just my conviction. At a lunch among friends they were singing songs to God and one person said: let's sing something else, we're not in church! Even if it may seem I'm always stuffing myself at lunch or dinner, I can say that relationships with people today are discovered much more around a table.
Whoever wants to know You will come close to you.
Whoever wants to read will pick up a book.
Whoever wants to grow will learn.
Whoever wants to be free will follow You.
God loves to the point of setting free.
He has already done it.
He knows what you've done wrong so far.
He doesn't judge.
He doesn't force.
He accepts you as you are.
He is the Father par excellence.
He wants you back as His child.
He has made you know your brother.
He is the Father of Christ Jesus.
You can take back your inheritance.
You can take back your place.
You can take the life, the truth, the way.
Don't live on hearsay, but live with knowledge, true knowledge: decide to pick up the Bible and read it, understand it, question yourself so you can look around and know what you're really living. Step down from the pedestal and put yourself back into the simplicity of real life.
